Born and raised in Cape Town, Dr Rori Fortuin first pursued her passion for sport and human movement, earning a BSc in Sport Science and an Honours in Biokinetics from Stellenbosch University. During her internship in East London, she felt a strong calling towards medicine, leading to her MBChB in 2014 and culminating in specialist training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the University of the Witwatersrand in 2022.
Her formative years at Chris Hani Baragwanath Academic Hospital in Johannesburg - one of the world’s busiest – sparked her interest in high risk obstetrics and remarks: “The exposure I received there afforded me the opportunity to upskill myself quite quickly by learning to work under immense pressure. This taught me to be flexible, to adapt to new situations and challenges.”
Now back in her hometown, after 13 years of serving women across various provinces during her training, she looks forward to offering consistent, long-term care to the women and families she serves in her community.
“I am hardworking and passionate and love what I do. I aim to be readily available for my patients and to show patience and understanding as they follow their various paths in the life stages of women’s health.”
